Description
Clobetasol Propionate and Salicylic Acid Ointment is avaialbe with the brand name “ALOVIB-S” and is a dermatological drug that is mainly employed to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin disorder characterized by inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough patches on the skin. Psoriasis is a skin condition where skin cells grow very fast to create bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.
Clobetasol Propionate and Salicylic Acid Ointment consists of Clobetasol propionate (corticosteroid) and Salicylic acid (peeling agent). Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid that inhibits the formation of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that cause the affected area to become red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic drug (that softens, separates, and causes peeling of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the moisture content in the skin and breaks down the substance that makes the skin cells adhere to each other.
