Description
Fluconazole, Azithromycin and Secnidazole Tablet is available with the branding “AZISTIC-FS KIT” and is an antibiotic that is administered to cure infections of the vagina, e.g., bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis, trichomoniasis and mixed infection with Neisseria and chlamydia. Bacterial vaginosis occurs due to the change in the normal flora of the bacteria of the vagina. Candidiasis or vaginal yeast infection is infection of the vulvar and vaginal tissues. Trichomoniasis is a parasitic venereal infection. Chlamydia is a bacterial venereal infection. The symptoms of a vaginal infection are itching, odour and abnormal discharge from the vagina.
Fluconazole, Azithromycin and Secnidazole Tablet has three drugs: Azithromycin (antibiotic), Fluconazole (antifungal), and Secnidazole (antibiotic). Azithromycin belongs to the ‘macrolide antibiotics’ class of drugs. Azithromycin stops the synthesis of bacterial protein, thereby stopping bacterial growth. Fluconazole belongs to the ‘azole antifungal’ class of drugs. Fluconazole stops the growth of fungi by causing damage and leakage to the fungal cell membrane. Secnidazole belongs to the ‘amoebicides’ class of drugs. Secnidazole stops the growth of the causative bacteria of infection.
Uses
- Treatment of vaginal infection: It is beneficial for the treatment of vaginal infections due to the bacteria, fungi, or parasites like bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis, and trichomoniasis.
- Treatment of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: This tablet can be employed in genital infections, e.g., pelvic inflammatory disease.
- Syndromic treatment of Vaginal Discharge: It is mainly preferred for syndromic treatment of vaginal discharge by addressing the etiologic agent of the infection.

Precautions
- It may interact with antacids such as magnesium or aluminium, cardiac medications (digoxin), sedatives (triazolam), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, tacrolimus), medications for convulsions (carbamazepine, phenytoin), antibiotics (rifampicin, rifabutin), respiratory medications (theophylline), anti-allergic medications (astemizole), and anticoagulants.
- Avoid drinking alcohol while using this composition, as it can lead to health problems. Before you swallow this tablet, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or gastrointestinal disease (colitis and diarrhoea, colon inflammation), allergy, ulcers or blisters, or an urination disorder.
- Do not give this medicine to your child with age less than 12 years, without consulting a doctor.
- Consult your physician if you are determined to become pregnant or are pregnant before using it. It should be applied carefully and only on the recommendation of a physician if you are a lactating woman.
